Bookplates

Hand-drawn; hand-colored; hand-lettered. The text in Fraktur and German script is in the lower half of the document. In the upper center is a tree like flower with two birds. The entire item is framed by a decorative border. This bookplate is in the hymnal Ausbund, Das ist Etliche schöne Christliche Lieder (Germantaun, Leibert und Billmeyer, 1785).   (PA GER Germantown 1785 Au72)

Translation:
Time goes by every day. Who knows how near the end may be.
This beautiful hymnal belongs to Anna Staufferin, and was bought for her by her father. For God’s glory and her instruction! on the 24th of March 1793. Guide me, dear savior mine, and lead me in your kingdom. Hallelujah.
Bucks County, Pennsylvania watercolor and ink on paper bookplate in a New Testament, dated1794, for Elisabetha Funcfin, Bedminster Township, attributed to Samuel Meyer, with an elaborate floral branch, 6 1/2" x 3 1/2". Exhibition: Mennonite Historical Society, 2004-2005. Provenance: Christie's, January 2003, lot 838.
